A 20-year-old man suffered chemical burns in an industrial accident in Angus.
The engineer was rushed to hospital following the incident at around 3.45pm on Tuesday at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) in Montrose.
Emergency services attended at the Cobden Street plant, with two fire crews and a police unit quickly on the scene.
A contractor in the car park at the front of the complex said he had seen an ambulance driving away around 4pm, followed by a fire engine.
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they took the man to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.
A black Vauxhall Insignia with a single blue flashing light arrived at the gate at speed around 4.30pm and one fire engine remained at the scene until around 4.40pm.
The man was working in the plant when the incident occurred and his injuries were not life threatening. Workers leaving for the day declined to comment.
A tannoy announcement was made at 4.30pm summoning all emergency personnel to a briefing meeting at Building 108 at 4.45pm.
A GSK spokesman said: “Following a minor incident on Tuesday afternoon, an engineer who was carrying out routine maintenance work on a plant at GSK’s Montrose site was, as a precautionary measure, taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.
“Tayside Fire and Rescue, who attended at the site quickly, scaled it down to a minor incident.”
Tayside Fire and Rescue confirmed crews from Montrose, Brechin, Arbroath and two from Dundee had been called out, in addition to a heavy rescue unit and a command support unit.
All but two were stood down as details of the incident emerged.
