An Angus father who “lost everything” after smacking his child’s bottom has been admonished by a sheriff.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Forfar and admitted assaulting the one-year-old at his home, hitting him on the bottom with his hand to the child’s injury on March 2.
The court heard the offence had already cost him his residence.
The nature of the child’s injury was not disclosed by the Crown during the brief appearance.
Sheriff Gregor Murray told the man: “You have lost everything in your life due to one moment of stupidity.
“I don’t think there’s anything I can do to you that would be an additional punishment.
