An Angus choir is giving local singers the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform on stage with opera diva Lesley Garrett.
Lesley Garrett is to be Arbroath Male Voice Choir’s special guest at their annual concert dates this coming March in the Webster Theatre and they are looking to recruit members for what will be a memorable occasion.
The choir resume rehearsals on Monday and choir president Dr Richard Irvine said: “This is our 77th year of making music, and Lesley is going to make this one extra-special.
“This is an excellent and very exciting time to join the choir. We’re currently looking for extra tenors and basses to swell the ranks.”
He added: “We don’t have a formal audition, but you must be enthusiastic to learn, willing to have fun and sing in tune.
“Choir singing is also superb physical exercise and a good mental workout too, so there are really no excuses for not giving it a go.
“How many times do you get the chance to sing with an international superstar? It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Lesley Garrett is Britain’s most popular soprano, regularly appearing in opera and on television.
The choir draws members from across Angus, Dundee and the Mearns. Further information is available from the choir secretary Jay Ferrier on 01241 876428.
