Along with Spangles, Midget Gems and Wagon Wheel biscuits the size of CDs, the very mention of Creamola Foam is enough to have a whole generation of Scots becoming moist-eyed with nostalgia for the good old days of the 60s, 70s and 80s.
The original product is now, sadly, no more as Nestle ceased production of the fizzy crystal drink more than a decade ago due to rising production costs.
But, thanks to an enterprising Scottish confectioner, this much-missed staple is now back on sale.
Now branded as Kramola Fizz, the drink was relaunched a few months ago by Alan McCandlish of Cardross and is now available in Arbroath.
Sonia Smith, who runs Sugar and Spice at the harbour end of the town’s High Street, has just started selling Kramola Fizz and even she has been rather taken aback by the public reaction.
Sonia said, “I think there are maybe a few places in Glasgow and Edinburgh that are selling it but, as far as we know, we are the first place in the north-east of Scotland to stock it.
“The people who have tried it say that it tastes just as good as it did when they were children.
“I think it really will appeal to those who remember it first time around as well as those who are new to it.”
