It has emerged 59-year-old Carnoustie man Tony English was stabbed to death.
His body was found around 8am at his Carnoustie home on December 11 and his death certificate states the cause was a ”stab wound to forearm.”
His death is being treated as suspicious by police, and inquiries are continuing in a bid to establish the exact circumstances in which Mr English died.
Officers took to the streets on Saturday night as they bid to find answers to the suspicious death, which remains the hot topic of conversation in the town.
Police were available to discuss any concerns and issues as well as offering advice and reassurance to people.
A letter drop has also been undertaken in the area urging residents to come forward with anything they might have heard.
Detective Chief Inspector Iain Wales who is leading the investigation said a couple of residents have come forward to offer new ”valuable” information.
He said: ”There is still a lot of forensic examination happening, which does take time and there are ongoing inquiries continuing. We have a dedicated team of detectives working on nothing but this inquiry.
”We are also keeping in close contact with Mr English’s family to keep them up to date with the investigation.”
Originally from Lisburn, County Antrim, he had lived in the Angus town for around 30 years.
Two people who had initially been detained to help with inquiries were subsequently released.
