An Angus man who spent his wedding night in custody after assaulting his wife and stepdaughter has been fined £200.
Graham Bell (39), of Gibson Street, Carnoustie, is now back living with his wife Amy following the bust-up.
Bell previously admitted assaulting his wife’s daughter on December 9 2010, at the Aboukir pub on Church Street, by placing his hands around her throat and applying pressure.
He also admitted assaulting his wife at the same address by pushing her on the body and grabbing her by the wrist.
Depute fiscal Arlene Shaw said Bell received a phone call during the reception and immediately became angry and upset.
The bust-up happened in the bathroom before third parties intervened and the police were contacted.
Defence agent Nick Markowski said: ”It wasn’t the greatest start to married life. Your wedding day should be one of the happiest days of your life.
”Instead of spending the wedding night with his wife, he spent it in custody.”
Mr Markowski said the charge was now of some vintage and all parties were now happily reconciled.
