The tourism profile of Angus has been boosted by a promotional video for a hit US talk show.

Clips of Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson dancing in Arbroath and at Glamis Castle feature heavily in the trailer for a week-long special set to be aired as part of his highly-rated Late, Late Show.

Already a hit on YouTube, the three-minute video has been viewed more than 12,000 times in just a few days.

Hollywood actors including Mila Kunis, who starred in Black Swan, Michael Clark Duncan, who is best known for the Green Mile, and Rashida Jones from the Social Network, feature alongside Ferguson.

”This whole trip to Scotland, I can’t tell you how lovely it is. How great the people are, how beautiful the towns are. I’m shocked ” my memory is completely wrong,” the host said to Ms Jones while filming in Arbroath.

First Minister Alex Salmond also manages to make a brief appearance in the show-reel, which is set to an upbeat track from unsigned Glasgow band The Imagineers.

Introducing the segment, Ferguson said: ”They often say to me: ‘Craig, did you take your show to Scotland, land of your birth, the other greatest country on earth and record a week of shows?’ Yes I did.”

Running on five consecutive nights on CBS from May 14-18, the programmes will showcase scenic views of Angus, including Arbroath harbour and Kerr’s Miniature Railway, to an average of two million nightly viewers.

When choosing the band for the series, Ferguson, former drummer with Glasgow group The Dreamboys, sent his CBS team to Scotland with the mission: ”Find me a band I would have wanted to be in 30 years ago.”

The Imagineers will be broadcast on the network each night of the run, after recording a homecoming concert series in the Tron Theatre, Glasgow.

In addition to Angus, the shows feature Ferguson’s hometown of Cumbernauld, Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, Calton Hill and Kelvingrove Art Gallery, as well as the host’s childhood home and secondary school.
