Five-times world champion Raymond van Barneveld is set to meet budding darts stars of the future in Angus.
The Dutch star will drop in to the CAFE Project in Arbroath on Friday to meet youngsters from the Angus Darts Academy, which is now the biggest in Scotland.
Barney will be signing autographs alongside referee Russ Bray, who is one of the most recognisable voices in the world of darts.
Fast-throwing county player and Scottish international Alan Soutar has been coaching players aged between 10 and 21 on Thursday evenings at the CAFE Project at Brothock Bridge.
After only 12 weeks of the darts academy being formed, 86 different youngsters have attended the training nights.
Barney and Russ will be dropping in before taking part in a darts exhibition later that evening before 200 fans at the Arbroath Community Centre.
The event has been organised by Alan, who made his Lakeside debut last year after qualifying for the BDO World Professional Darts Championship.
He told The Courier: ”Barney will play against 16 local players on the night which is sure to be a great night of darts action.
”Barney will spend the day in Arbroath before heading down to the Cafe Project at 6pm to meet the youngsters at the Angus Darts Academy for photos and autographs before heading along to the community centre and his exhibition.
”The community centre will be decked in orange for the Dutch star and all those attending are asked to join in the fun on the night and turn out in orange to become a member of the Barney Army.
”Every ticket is numbered and a draw will be carried out throughout the night for a chance to take to the stage to play a leg of darts against Barney.
”Also a fundraiser darts challenge will be played on the night with all funds raised going to the Angus Darts Academy.”
Tickets are still available for the event and are available from Alan Soutar on 07967218790 or you can pay at the door on the night at a cost of £20 per person.
