An Arbroath man was growing six cannabis plants in the loft of his family home, a court has heard.
Defence agent Billy Rennie told Arbroath Sheriff Court that Raymond Wallace’s family were oblivious to the cultivation that was going on in the loft.
Wallace (38), Townhead Road, previously admitted that between February 1 and March 10 at his home address he produced cannabis. He further admitted being concerned in the supply of the drug.
Depute fiscal Hazel Anderson said police had intelligence that Wallace was involved in drugs. He was picked up and found with a mobile phone which contained messages from two people requesting cannabis.
He initially refused to a search of his property, later telling officers there were only six plants in his loft. His house was searched and the information was accurate.
Ms Anderson said the plants were halfway to maturity and gave a potential valuation of £2,400. Police also seized paraphanelia including growing equipment and lighting.
Sheriff McGowan told Wallace he had made some efforts to turn his life around.
He ordered him to perform 120 hours’ community service.
