A 78-year-old Dundee man who was rescued from the summit of Cairn of Barns in the Glen Clova area of Angus on Monday night has died in hospital.
Police say John Anderson, of Marchfield Terrace, was an experienced hillwalker and regularly took to the hills in the Glen Clova area, was reported as being overdue by a family member at about 7.30pm on Monday.
Tayside Police Search and Rescue Unit and the Tayside Mountain Rescue Team quickly found his vehicle, near the Glen Clova Hotel.
The searchers made their way to the Cairn of Barns summit where they traced Mr Anderson, who was unconscious and suffering from hypothermia. It is suspected that he had suffered a heart attack.
