Arbroath man Philip McDougall has died after a car crash near the town on Tuesday afternoon.
The 19-year-old, believed to have been the driver of the Volkswagen Golf, suffered fatal injuries and died at Ninewells Hospital.
He lived in Bank Street.
His 27-year-old passenger is described as being in a stable condition with non life threatening injuries. He is also from Arbroath.
The accident happened on the unclassified Arbroath to Lunan road at Kinaldie at about 3.30pm. The green Volkswagen Golf overturned.
Ambulance services and Tayside Fire and Rescue, as well as Tayside Police, attended and closed the road.
The men were treated by paramedics at the scene before one was airlifted to Ninewells and the other taken by ambulance.
The road was closed for several hours and reopened at about 9.30pm.
Police are asking anyone who saw the N-registered VR6 Golf being driven in the Seaton Road and Mayfield areas of Arbroath shortly before 3.30pm, or who had their attention drawn to any other vehicles in the area, to phone 0300 111 2222.
