A 53-year-old Angus woman has been banned for driving for four years and fined £300.
Appearing from custody on Tuesday, Norma Meekison, of Station Road, Inverkeilor, admitted driving or attempting to drive with excess alcohol (107 mics) on Hayshead Road, Arbroath, on Monday. The legal limit is 35 mics.
Depute fiscal Arlene Shaw said Meekison had been drinking in the Portcullis Bar in Arbroath and staggered towards her car.
She said: ”She entered the vehicle, started it and it lurched forward approximately 15 metres and stopped a metre away from a parked car.”
A concerned patron contacted the police, who traced Meekison. She was struggling to stand or walk without help.
A defence agent said Meekison was not attempting to drive home, but was parking the car to make it safe before leaving.
A bid from the Crown for forfeiture of the car was refused.
