Plans to close half the playparks in Angus have been met with organised protests across the county.
Angus Council’s proposals to remove equipment from 51 parks were first criticised by parents in Forfar last month and other towns across the county have since joined in.
The Courier spoke to mums and dads, councillors and children during Friday’s protests, at which youngsters displayed home-made banners and letters pleading for the parks to be saved.
Dozens of parents and their children were at parks in Carnoustie, Kirriemuir, Montrose, Forfar, Monifieth and Brechin to protest against the plans that would save the local authority £630 per park per year.
Forfar group organiser Morvyn Roebuck said: “The public have been good enough to come out today in all the towns. Why isn’t the council here?”See Saturday’s Courier for extensive coverage of Friday’s protests
