A CHRISTMAS reunion party for women who have attended aquanatal classes was held at Arbroath Maternity Unit yesterday.
Fiona Mineard and Jane Wanless decided to organise a little festive fun for mums and babies who attended aquanatal classes over the past six months.
A Christmas party was held at the maternity unit and during the afternoon, mums had the opportunity to chat about their experiences of motherhood over a cup of tea and mince pies.
Midwives Jane and Fiona run aquanatal classes on Tuesday evenings from 7.45pm and 8.45pm at Arbroath swimming pool.
The swimming exercise classes aim to help prepare mums-to-be for the birth of their babies by improving their fitness and stamina levels, as well as giving them the opportunity to meet other expectant mums.
Jane said: “The women really enjoy the aquanatal classes and many of them form friendships during their pregnancy.
“Aquanatal classes provide safe, gentle exercise in water which help women to keep fit and can aid with relaxation, improve sleep and promote positive wellbeing.
“Women who keep active in pregnancy have shorter labours and improved postnatal recovery.
“A lot of the mums form friendships during the classes and keep in touch after the births of their babies and we felt it would be nice to have a reunion to meet them all again with their babies.”
