A man accused of biting another man’s ear off during an alleged assault appeared in private in court.
Dean Rasche, 23, of no fixed abode, appeared on a petition alleging he assaulted a man on Cowgate, Dundee, on Sunday by punching him to the face, knocking him to the ground, punching him on the head and body and biting off part of his ear to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
He is further charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice by giving false details to police officers on King Street later the same day.
He made no plea or declaration during the short petition hearing before Sheriff Charles Macnair.
The case was continued for further examination and Rasche was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
