Elderly woman rescued from smoke-filled Dundee flat

An elderly Clepington Road resident had to be given oxygen on Monday night after being rescued from her smoke-filled flat.
The 81-year-old lady was given oxygen by firefighters outside the Dundee flat before an ambulance crew arrived to continue the treatment after she suffered from minor smoke inhalation.
A grill pan had been left on in the property, causing extensive smoke which triggered a smoke alarm.
An ambulance spokesman confirmed the woman did not require hospital treatment.
Afterwards, crew manager Grant Foreman from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said a passerby and the community alarm team had alerted them.
He said: “It was nothing major but it shows the importance of having a working smoke alarm.”
