Hundreds of homes in Dundee and Angus were left without electricity following a power cut. Around 800 homes were in darkness following the loss of power, which occurred around 5.35pm on Thursday. Residents in Broughty Ferry, Monifieth and Ballumbie were among those affected by the outage. Scottish Hydro Electric rushed engineers to a local substation to deal with the cause of the electricity failure. A spokesman for the company said the power was restored at around 8.30pm and apologised to customers for the inconvenience. See Friday’s Courier for more on this story.
