Dundee United fans banned from Tannadice amid smoke bombs investigation
ByThe Courier Reporter
Two Dundee United fans have been banned from attending home games following allegations that they set off a smoke bomb during a match.
The supporters, aged 15 and 22, were ejected from New Douglas Park during last week’s away league clash with Hamilton.
It’s understood they were identified on CCTV on January 12.
Police Scotland confirmed officers are investigating the incident.
Dundee United have written to the pair to inform them that they will not be welcome at Tannadice until the case concludes.
A letter from club safety officer Ian Low was sent to the supporters.
He said: “I was within the control room at the recent Hamilton v Dundee United game when I was informed that you had been identified on CCTV as being responsible for setting off a smoke device within the away stand.
“It is also my understanding that a report is being submitted to the procurator fiscal by Police Scotland regarding your actions and conduct.
“As a result of your actions, the club has decided to prohibit you, with immediate effect, from entering Tannadice Park until the outcome of your pending case.”
Police Scotland said no one has yet been reported to the procurator fiscal.
