Bill Robertson, former director of Bett Homes, has passed away, aged 90.
Under his directorship the company built homes across the whole of Scotland, including a great many homes across Dundee and a large number of the current homes in Broughty Ferry.
He was born in 1924 and was raised by a single mother in a tenement building, as his father passed away when he was very young.
His mother was a weaver in a jute mill at the West Port.
In his teenage years, Mr Robertson got an apprenticeship as a joiner, and after leaving this apprenticeship joined Bett Brothers where he worked until his retirement at the age of 64.
Willie Robertson, his son, said: “He built many of the homes people in Broughty Ferry live in.
“It is difficult to find a picture of him without his wife Edith, and I think that sums it up they were inseperable.
“He will be greatly missed, the entire family will miss their father and grandfather and great grandfather.”
He is survived by three sons, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Walking was a love he shared with his wife, who passed away two years ago, and he was an elder at St Lukes in Broughty Ferry after his retirement.
