The operator of Broughty Ferry Beach Hut may face legal action from traders, catering suppliers and staff who say they have been left chasing payments.
Several sources have reported the restaurant run by Catherine Rae is now closed. Its Facebook page has been deleted and the booking line rings unanswered.
It is understood the number of people with grievances could be much wider than previosuly reported, with butchers, fishmongers, tradesmen and staff also claiming to have been left out of pocket.
A rough estimate of the total allegedly owed is now closer to £30,000 double the £15,000 previously claimed.
Traders and suppliers are now considering taking the matter to police.
Bob Fraser, a tradesman who says he was left with an unpaid bill of more than £1,000, said he has had no contact with the owner.
He said: “We now suspect this was a premeditated act, and when we cast the net around we can see that there are an even greater number of people than we first thought out of pocket.
“We suspect the number could be double what we originally thought. Now we are considering going down to Bell Street to see the detectives.”
Keri Lawrence, a single mother who left out of pocket at Christmas, claimed she is still due payment.
“I’m not any closer to getting paid,” she said.
“I haven’t heard from anyone about any development, and I haven’t heard from the owner. I don’t think I’ll ever get my money back.”
Restaurant owner Catherine Rae could not be contacted for comment, and also declined to comment on the initial allegations.
