A team of Dundee United legends are to take part in a 75-mile cycle challenge to raise money for Dundee’s Maggie’s Centre.
Former Tangerines full-back John Holt has assembled a team to complete a cycle tour of grounds in Dundee and Angus on Sunday May 3.
Team-mates including Dave Narey, Hamish McAlpine, Paul Hegarty, Dave Bowman, Jim McInally and Maurice Malpas have all agreed to take part.
The cyclists will set off from Tannadice then complete a loop around the four clubs in Angus – Arbroath, Montrose, Brechin and Forfar – before returning to Dundee.
They hope to raise £2,500 for Maggie’s Dundee by completing the 75-mile journey.
Donations can be made online.
“We just wanted to raise some money for cancer care,” said John.
“They put a lot of care in for people and it is a local company so we thought we would do something for them.”
John is a keen cyclist and thinks his team should have no difficulty completing their journey around Angus.
“It is quite a long way but all the clubs in Angus are putting on some light refreshments for us,” he siad.
“There will be a bit of training beforehand. I’m already a keen cyclist and so is Dave Narey.
“It should be a great day.”
