Claypotts junction traffic lights work completed ahead of time
ByMark Mackay
Claypotts junction has reopened ahead of schedule, but it appears commuters have yet to be convinced that the changes are any improvement.
The notoriously busy junction has been plagued by diversions and roadworks since before Christmas, as efforts were made to improve traffic flow.
Commuters faced long queues as Dundee City Council updated traffic lights that had remained unchanged since they were first installed 20 years ago.
One of the main changes is a new layout and new lights sequencing for westbound traffic turning right into Baldovie Road. That followed a series of accidents there in recent years.
Though the junction is fully functional again, the results of that work remain inconclusive as far as some users are concerned.
Significant queues built up during Monday morning rush hour, though Broughty Ferry Councillor Laurie Bidwell said he hoped drivers would come to appreciate the difference.
