It may have been sub-zero across Scotland, but UK heroes Kaiser Chiefs stirred up a hot, sweaty night at the Caird Hall in Dundee.
Just back from their South American tour, where the temperature at their open-air arena shows was around 30 degrees warmer than here, the Leeds five-piece produced an electric performance in front of almost 2,000 dedicated fans.
Shrouded in a huge cloud of fake smoke, they kicked things off with the Factory Gates, lead track from current album Education, Education, Education & War, which hit the number one spot when it was released in March last year.

Delving mostly into their sizeable back catalogue, plucked from their previous four studio albums over their decade-long chart career, the Dundee gig was showcasing the new album tracks in Scotland for the first time since the album’s release.
With Ricky Wilson perched precariously on the stage monitors, then bouncing round every inch of the stage, they raced through chart hits I Predict A Riot, Everyday I Love You Less And Less, Modern Way and a fantastic finale with Oh My God from debut album Employment.
In between there was a massive singalong chorus for Ruby, while the fans widely appreciated brand new tracks Team Mate and Falling Awake.
They also included their party piece from the London Olympics closing ceremony, the Who’s Pinball Wizard.
Kaiser Chiefs are back at the top of the UK music scene yet again and look odds on to stay for a while yet.
