Nursery closes ‘suddenly’ after six years of poor reports
ByThe Courier Reporter
A Dundee nursery has closed its doors after six years of receiving poor reports from the Care Inspectorate.
A former employee said Haddington House Nursery on Old Glamis Road, which had been the subject of 10 poor reports, shut down “suddenly and unexpectedly.”
However, this was denied by the husband of the owner, who said they had given three weeks’ notice to staff and parents.
Last month it was revealed the latest report was the 10th in the past six years that had given the nursery a poor grading.
Reporters said the nursery would have to make significant changes to improve the quality of service.
Gary Gallacher, whose wife Sarah has owned the nursery since 2008, confirmed it had closed on January 23.
However, he denied the move was sudden and said they had been considering their position since before Christmas.
“We gave both staff and parents three weeks’ notice that the nursery would be closing. My wife even kept the nursery open at her own expense for an extra week to allow parents time to find other nursery places.
“My wife has put 10 years hard work into the nursery but we have had enough.”
