Staff have raised concerns about drug dealing and assaults at the gates of Menzieshill High School.
Mobile CCTV has been drafted in to cover the Tweed Crescent entrance to the school and a police investigation is under way.
A police officer and community safety wardens have also been on patrols.
A police report confirmed: “A problem was highlighted by school staff.”
The reports of drug dealing, assaults and youth issues emerged between November and last month.
Inquiries are said to be at an early stage and no arrests have been made.
Jim McCord, Menzieshill Residents’ Association committee member, said drugs have been an issue in the neighbourhood for a while.
He said: “The drugproblems in Menzieshill ingeneral are ridiculous.
“There are times when older people are scared to go into the chemist as there are people coming up for methadone and sometimes there’s trouble.”
Robbie Mortali runs a shop on Charleston Drive and had been visited by community wardens. He said: “The wardens were trying to establish whether the trouble was being caused by pupils at the school or someone else.”
