A luxury Jaguar car stolen from outside a Dundee home as the family watched TV inside has been found in Broughty Ferry.
Gavin Patterson, his wife, two daughters and granddaughter were watching television on Sunday afternoon when a thief snuck into the kitchen next door, stole the car keys and then drove off with Jaguar XF.
Mr Patterson said his family had been shocked by the incident and had to change the locks to their house after the thief made off with their keys.
However, there has been something of a happy ending after the car was found abandoned in Panmure Street in Broughty Ferry.
“The police called me this morning to say the car had been found in Panmure Street,” said Mr Patterson.
“It has been taken to Ninewells Garage for forensic tests.
“The only problem is trying to get a spare set of keys. He stole both fobs and they have been locked in the car.
“The police said it doesn’t seem to be damaged.”
Mr Patterson said he had left several items in the vehicle when it was taken.
“There are some CDs and a golf buggy. Stupidly, I left some credit cards in there too but they have all been cancelled,” he said.
The Jaguar was spotted by Iain Nicolson after reading about the theft in The Courier.
