Design in Motion V&A Dundee hits the road with touring exhibition
ByStefan Morkis
The V&A at Dundee project got into motion today as its first ever touring exhibition began in Dundee City Square.
The Design in Motion exhibition gives visitors a chance to see some of the cutting-edge design work that the V&A at Dundee will be home to, as well as giving them a chance to meet members of the museum team.
But this is no regular exhibition that sits idly by waiting for visitors to come to it.
Instead, it is housed in The Travelling Gallery’s custom-built bus, and will visit more than 70 locations around the country before finishing its tour at the V&A in London.
It will spend the next two weeks travelling around Dundee before embarking on a four-month tour around Scotland ahead of its final stop in London.
Phillip Long, director of V&A Dundee, said the tour demonstrates the national significance of the V&A at Dundee.
He said: “It’s a very important project for Dundee. There’s a great deal of work to do to make the V&A happen but we are very pleased to be working with The Travelling Gallery to take design talent from across Scotland across the whole of the country.”
