Application for new primary school and nursery in Dundee
BySteven Dinnie
Plans have been lodged for a new Dundee primary school.
The building would replace Sidlaw View Primary and Jessie Porter Nursery School.
Up to 400 pupils would be able to attend the new school, which would be on part of the Baldragon Academy site, along with 100 nursery pupils and eight children with additional needs.
A planning application lodged with the council shows the school would have 14 primary classrooms. Other facilities include a dining and assembly hall, a production kitchen, a gym hall, offices, drama and music provision.
A report on the plans said: “The committee noted that the schools would create flexible learning and teaching spaces, which will enhance the delivery of a Curriculum for Excellence, promote increased opportunities for integration at pre-school and mainstream level and provide future-proofed IT infrastructure to support curricular and management functions.”
Councillors have already given the green light to a new high school to replace Baldragon Academy on the same site.
In its budget approved on Thursday, the council set aside £8.1 million for the primary school.
