Dundonians joined millions of people internationally in a flashmob calling for justice for the women who suffer domestic abuse and violence worldwide.
Dundee Women’s Aid (DWA) and the Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (WRASAC) teamed up to organise the event in the Wellgate shopping centre on Saturday.
The large synchronised dance was organised as part of One Billion Rising, established on the 15th anniversary of the V-Day movement, a campaign launched in 1998 by the activist and writer Eve Ensler.Post by Wrasac Dundee & Angus.Sophie Gwyther of DWA, one of the organisers of the flashmob, said: “I would like to extend particular thanks to Showcase The Street for the use of their studios for rehearsals.
“This year we have participants from all walks of life coming together.
“They have ranged from three years old to over 60, from boys and young men to three generations of one family taking part.
“It is an emotional and heartwarming experience to see so many willing to stand up and say ‘no’ to all forms of violence against women while having a great time.”
