Elderly man dies after fire at Balhousie Clement Park Care Home in Dundee

A 78-year-old man who suffered serious injuries in a fire at a Dundee care home has died.

The man was rushed to hospital early on Sunday morning after being rescued by firefighters from the blaze in his bedroom.

An investigation is now under way into the cause of the fire, which forced elderly residents to be evacuated from their rooms in the middle of the night.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland, Tayside Division, said: “Police Scotland can confirm that following serious injuries suffered during a fire at Balhousie Care Home, Clement Park Place, Dundee a 78-year-old man sadly died this morning at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and as with all sudden deaths a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
