A private parking company is pursuing 13 motorists over unpaid parking tickets in Dundee.
Vehicle Control Services (VCS) has launched legal action against the drivers at the city’s sheriff court, with all of the cases due to call at the court on Thursday.
One of the motorists being pursued is Neil Hallyburton, who claims to have received more than 30 parking tickets from the firm within the space of two years.
The 31-year-old was issued with the fines as a result of parking without a permit on Brown Street. He ignored demands for payment and is now being pursued for more than £1,500.
A spokesman for Vehicle Control Services Limited said: “The cases concerned relate to multiple and long-standing parking charge notices relating to a variety of private sites/land and date back to 2012.
“Despite numerous reminders being sent, including those from our appointed debt recovery agencies, payment for the parking charge notices remains outstanding.
“We have, therefore, had no alternative but to pursue the matters through the courts.
“All parties to the actions will have received court notification of the hearing dates and full details of the associated claims.”
The Courier recently revealed how City Quay resident Carly Mackie received an £18,500 bill from VCS for parking her car in front of her garage on West Victoria Dock Road.
Last year pensioner James Reilly, also from City Quay, told how he had racked up thousands of pounds worth of fines from the company after refusing to display a permit in his own car parking space.
