Concerns about the impact of changes to passenger flight times between Dundee and London are to be discussed soon with operator CityJet, it has emerged.
The company recently announced its winter timetable, coming into force from November 1, which will see the first flight not leave Dundee until 8.30am meaning it will be mid-morning before travellers reach London City airport.
The first return flight is being put back to mid-morning too, so northbound passengers cannot reach Dundee before noon.
These proposed changes have prompted worries from the business community, in particular, as they make it harder to attend early meetings in London.
West End councillor Fraser Macpherson has written to CityJet urging them to reconsider. He has also been in touch with the manager of the airport, which is run by Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL).
Airport staff have been hearing timetable concerns too and HIAL is understood to be discussing the issue with CityJet. A three-way meeting, also involving Dundee City Council, is expected to take place before the end of the month.
Early in November there is also a meeting of the airport consultative committee, which comprises councillors, representatives of local groups and members of the airport’s management team.
CityJet has a representative on this committee and airport manager Derrick Lang, in a letter to Councillor Macpherson, said, “There definitely will be an opportunity for discussion on this at the consultative meeting.”
