Exiled Dundee FC fan Tommy Thomson struck gold in Paris on the second leg of his attempt to visit five capital cities in four days in an attempt to raise funds for the cash-strapped club.
As we reported on Tuesday, Tommy (52), who works in Cairo for Athens-based construction firm CCC, has come up with a novel way of raising money for the administration-hit club while on a business trip to Bolivia to source a rare type of marble.
On the trip he intends to photograph iconic landmarks like the Pyramids and Eiffel Tower, while collecting donations and souvenirs to bring back and present to Dundee FC to be auctioned off.
On Monday he began his journey with a visit to the Pyramids. On Tuesday it was Paris, and Tommy visited the ground of Paris Saint German where he bumped into the famous club’s marketing director Michel Mimram and was given the red-carpet treatment.
Tommy explains, “I explained my journey and he was impressed enough to offer me a coffee and croissant and a quick tour of the stadium. He was a lovely man.
“He then left me for 15 minutes and returned with two football tops home and away signed by star players Nene and Erding respectively. Start the bidding, Dee fans!
“What a great start for me and PSG have a new supporter due to the great welcome I received.”
Tommy’s schedule sees him visit five capitals Cairo, Paris, Buenos Aires, Asuncion in Paraguay and Santa Cruz, one of Bolivia’s two capitals.
