Confusion among staff as Panmure Hotel put up for sale

The lease for the Panmure Hotel in Monifieth has been put up for sale, amid rumours that some staff have not been paid for over a month.

The 13-bedroom business on Tay Street has been put on the market at £175,000 through property agency Rightmove and is believed to be operating at a reduced capacity.

It is understood that some staff may have left after not being paid for weeks, including over the festive period.

The Courier spoke to one worker, who asked not to be named, but confirmed that some employees had been paid while others had not.

“Nobody seems to know what is going on. All we have heard is the limited amount we have been told by management.

“Customers have been coming in telling us things we didn’t know.”

Rightmove have included the hotel on their website, mentioning the business has a turnover of around £238,000 per year.

The firm claim the current leaseholders are looking to sell the business because they want to relocate.

Rightmove were unable to provide contact details for the leaseholders but it is understood they are currently out of the country.

The building was recently refurbished and is advertised as an “ideal opportunity” to acquire a leasehold hotel and restaurant.

The Panmure overlooks the first tee of Monifieth Golf Course and is an old-style stone building.

Bookings have already been made for events such as conferences and weddings into 2012.

In March the hotel advertised the fact that they had been under new private management since September 2009.
