A Dundee air cadet squadron has taken the next steps towards potentially being recognised as the best in the UK.
Cadets from 2450 (Dudhope) Squadron, who have already been named top squadron in Central Scotland, this week received a high-level visit as part of a regional inspection process.
The Air Training Corps regional commandant for Scotland and Northern Ireland, Group Captain Urquhart, together with the assistant regional commandant, Squadron Leader Carr, arrived in Dundee to assess the cadets.
The squadron is competing against five others in Scotland and Northern Ireland to see who will go forward to the final stage against the winners of the other regions in the UK.
The 2450 (Dudhope) Squadron has been a finalist in this competition several times over the past few years and should know if it has been successful this time over the next two months. If successful, the final assessment at national level will take place early in the summer.
After a formal inspection of cadets on parade, Group Captain Urquhart saw presentations from cadets on activities they have been involved in over the past year.
These included sports, Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, flying, gliding, parachuting, flight simulator, tree planting and conservation, leadership, marksmanship training, mountain biking, skiing, media and video, aircraft modelling, adventure training, aerospace instructors course and RAF camp visits in the UK and overseas.Anyone aged 13 to 17 who is interested in joining the squadron can call 01382 889628 or visit www.dudhope.co.uk
