A thief who left a trail of stolen items including an inflatable boat in his wake after raiding a friend’s shed has been sentenced to 100 days in prison.
Christopher Guminski (21) was sleeping in a wendy house in the friend’s garden when he found himself homeless on his release from prison on licence just over a fortnight ago, Dundee Sheriff Court was told.
Guminski, of Dryburgh Crescent, admitted stealing the boat, a bicycle, helmets and 10 rolls of wallpaper from the shed in Greenstone Place early on Tuesday.
Depute fiscal Carol White said a resident was disturbed by dogs barking and footsteps on gravel shortly after 3am and looked out to see Guminski in the shed.
His solicitor said Guminski had been drinking and taking valium and had returned to collect belongings he had left in the shed.
When they were not there he believed stories he had heard that they were sold by his friend.
Sheriff Way sentenced Guminski to 60 days for the new offence and ordered him to serve a further 40 from the unexpired portion of the previous sentence.
