Five people, including two teenage girls, are still being sought by police in Dundee in their investigation into the alleged murder of Alexander McLennan in Kingsway East.
Detectives want to speak to the potential witnesses, including a woman pushing a pram and a man walking a dog.
The inquiry team has spent hours studying CCTV footage they think could be relevant to the case, and have pinpointed the five as being in the Kingsway East area around the time of Mr McLennan’s death on January 7.
Three men Ross Ramsay (29), John Cassidy (31) and Steven Batchelor (31) have appeared in court charged with murdering the 56-year-old, who lived in Longtown Place.
Detective Inspector Kevin McMahon, said those being sought by officers could have information that helps the investigation.
He said: ”Detectives have carried out an extensive number of inquiries both during and following the incident, and are keen to trace a number of people who are known to have been in the area surrounding the Cutty Sark and Westhall Court on Kingsway East at the time.
”Although the incident happened a number of weeks ago, it is hoped that these individuals will be able to recall where they were and what they saw that day.”
All five were walking nearby when the alleged murder took place at about 2.45pm. Two teenage girls are known to have been in Happyhillock Road before walking up Westcroft Road on the Saturday afternoon.
One of the girls had long dark hair, and was wearing a pink top with white or grey horizontal stripes, dark trousers and white footwear.
The second girl had shoulder-length dark hair and was wearing a sky blue top, dark trousers and white footwear. She was also carrying a dark hand bag.
Another woman was seen walking with a pushchair eastwards on the footpath at Mauchline Avenue.
A man seen was also seen walking a dog, possibly a whippet, on the path near the gas tanks between Happyhillock Road and Old Pitkerro Road, while another male wearing a dark top was also seen in the same area.
Mr McLennan’s death sparked a major police operation with the immediate area cordoned off as officers carried out door-to-door inquiries.
Anyone who has information that could help the investigation should contact Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.
