Dundee East MSP Shona Robison is asking the council’s social work department for more information about a unit for troubled teenagers after three staff faced disciplinary action in three months.
It is understood one worker at The Elms in Lochee was dismissed and another stepped down after being suspended.
A third is going through the council’s disciplinary process, and it is believed issues under investigation included failure to follow guidelines on medication and problems with supervision of young people.
The Care Inspectorate has been informed of three ”incidents” at the complex.
Ms Robison said: ”A constituent has raised a number of concerns with me about The Elms and I have written to the social work department on the matter.”
A council spokesman said it had ”high expectations” of the care provided to the teens, and added: ”Dundee City Council does not discuss individual personnel issues.”
The Elms, off South Road, opened in 2000 and is a four-bed secure unit and five-bed close support unit for teenagers who pose a risk to themselves or others.
In early 2011, an inspector’s report described staffing as ”weak” because the number of staff remained below a minimum threshold. The Elms was said to provide a very good standard of care and support.
