The reopening of Jolly’s Hotel in Broughty Ferry has moved a step closer with a number of offers received for the Gray Street hotel.
Selling agents for Jolly’s which closed after going into administration last October said they would name their preferred bidder in the next few weeks.
Ken Sims, director of selling agent Christies, said: ”We have had a number of parties interested and a few offers, but we haven’t accepted any just yet. We are in discussion about which one to go with.
“At the end of this month we will hopefully be able to put in a recommendation and the administrator should be in a position to accept an offer from one of the interested parties.”
Mr Simms said interested parties considered Broughty Ferry ”a draw” even in the current economic climate.
He said: ”They know that businesses there make money. Some of the operators interested have establishments in Dundee at the moment and they want another one.
”There are also regional operators who think they can run a successful business if they can get a location in Broughty Ferry.”
More than 30 staff were axed last year when Jolly’s called time after its trading company Tay Hotels Ltd went into receivership.
