The generosity of a Dundee youngster will help disabled people across Tayside after she donated her pony to a local charity.
Georgea Anastassio (11) has gifted her Shetland pony Trixie to Brae Riding for the Disabled after witnessing the good work that the animal has already done there.
The Mill O’ Mains Primary School pupil, who regularly visits the Brae, had already loaned Trixie to the charity for the past four years and was delighted to make the move permanent.
Asked how she felt to be giving up her pony, Georgea replied: ”I’m really happy. She helps a lot of people and brings smiles to their faces and I can still come up and see her any time.”
Her father George, who bought Trixie in 2005, added: ”Georgea really wanted to do it. What goes on here is incredible.”
Brae manager Mary Sneddon said: ”The work that Trixie does here is amazing. She does a lot of one-to-one stuff and we really appreciate Georgea allowing us to keep her on a permanent basis.”
Georgea will be going even further to help the Brae the length of a catwalk to be precise.
She will be one of the models in a charity fashion show at the Apex Hotel on Sunday March 25 to raise funds for the Brae.
Dubbed ”Hot to Trot”, the show has been backed by local clothing retailers and businesses. Tickets are available from The Brae, priced £10.
Mary added: ”This will be our first big fundraising event of the year and everybody is looking forward to it.”
