A man has been rushed to Ninewells Hospital in a critical condition following a collision with a bus in Dundee city centre.
The 53-year-old, who has not been named, was in collision with the northbound No 22 National Express Dundee service in Commercial Street near its junction with Exchange Street at around 3.25pm on Tuesday.
Police were quickly on the scene, sealing off the north and south approaches as the evening rush hour got under way.
A large pool of blood was visible on the road, although it is understood that the casualty did not go under the bus at any point.
Staff at the Schoolwear Shop contacted the emergency services after hearing a commotion outside.
A large police presence was on site within minutes, joined by two ambulances. Passengers were asked to leave the bus and were questioned by officers at the scene.
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed a trauma team had been mobilised to deal with the man who was taken to Ninewells following preliminary treatment at the roadside.
National Express Dundee confirmed they would be cooperating fully with the police as an investigation is carried out.
Commercial Street remained closed into the early evening but was reopened to traffic shortly before 6.30pm.
