Menzieshill residents claim demolition of multis has sent mice into homes

Residents in and around Earn Crescent in Menziehill are blaming the demolition of neighbouring multis for what they say is an increase in the number of mice in the area.
It has been suggested the animals have been driven out of their natural habitat beneath where the Menzieshill multis once stood.
The last of the five tower blocks was demolished in March 2011 and contractors are now working on the site which stands around 100 metres away from the homes.
Lochee councillor Tom Ferguson plans to investigate the matter.
He said: ”I may look for the council to carry out more regular checks on vacant properties to help prevent mice or any other vermin getting into buildings.”
Residents say the mice started to appear around three weeks ago with multiple sightings reported. Traps have been set and a handful of the creatures snared.
Dundee City Council confirmed it had a complaint from a resident last week and was investigating. It said it was the only mouse incident reported from Earn Crescent this year.
