Police swooped on a Dundee street last night amid concerns for a 39-year-old man.
Trained negotiators were called to the Claverhouse area around tea-time, and a high police presence remained in the area until about 11pm.
Plain-clothed dog handlers were seen in the area, and one car was stationed on Eriskay Drive while a police van, a dog section car, two police cars and two unmarked cars parked up at Old Claverhouse Road.
A spokesman said: ”Tayside Police attended at an address in Dundee’s Graham Court earlier this evening after concerns were expressed about the welfare of a 39-year-old man.
”Trained negotiators attended to assist with the inquiry, and the matter was brought to a safe conclusion at about 11pm.
”No one was injured and Tayside Police is appreciative of the patience and understanding of local residents.
”The man has been detained and inquiries are ongoing. A report on the circumstances will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course.”
Officers appeared to be on standby near the park area between Claverhouse Road and Hebrides Drive as speculation mounted.
Locals took to the Tayside Police Facebook page to report seeing officers with Tasers.
Billy Mitchell posted: ”Why are there a number of police cars, vans, unmarked cars and officers at the bus terminus at Claverhouse?
”Is there something the residents should know or be worried about?”
Kristeen Anderson added: ”They had Taser guns as well quite concerning.”
