Two teenagers are being held by police after two men were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a disturbance in Dundee on Sunday night.

Tayside Police are appealing for witnesses after the men, aged 30 and 31, were taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital following the incident, which happened in Ogilvie Street/Dundonald Street at about 8.25pm.

Both were detained overnight, although their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two teenage boys aged 15 and 16 have been detained in connection with the incident. Officers say they are following other positive lines of inquiry.

Detective Inspector Mike Pirie said: “The injured men had been drinking in the 4Js bar just prior to the incident and were on their way to another pub nearby, when the disturbance broke out.

“We know that there were as many as 10 people in the street at the time both men and women and a number of them in their teens and that there would have been a fair degree of noise generated.

“I would ask that anyone who saw or heard anything get in touch with us as they may be able to help our inquiries.”

The 4Js pub was busy with celebrating Dundee United fans following their side’s victory over Dundee in Sunday’s SPL derby, but police have not said if the incident was football-related.
