It will be a case of ”I do, I do” for two Dundee sisters as they tie the knot this weekend.
Dawn (25) and Kim (24) Morrison from Ardler will marry their fiancees both named Barry in a joint ceremony in Mexico.
They will be joined by more than 50 guests on the Mexican riviera.
The wedding party have been putting the finishing touches to their preparations but Dawn said there was no panic ahead of her and Kim’s big day.
”We’ve done everything in advance, so it’s only really now that I’ve thought about nerves,” said the NHS out-of-hours worker. ”We had a lot of help in choosing our destination and our travel agent was great.”
Kim, a receptionist, added: ”The hotel staff have done a lot at their end, and they were saying that they’ve never had two sisters getting married at the same time before.”
The guests will join the girls and their future husbands in the Americas, the sun-soaked conditions a far cry from the wind and rain they are leaving behind in Tayside.
Upon their return the newlyweds will host a party at Piperdam for those who were unable to travel across the Atlantic, with as many as 300 people invited to join in the celebrations.
Dawn added: ”Our grandparents haven’t been able to make it, but we’re having a reception back here and hopefully they will be there.
”We want to thank everybody for all of their help and support our mum and dad in particular. Without their help organising everything would have been a lot more difficult.”
Most would imagine the father of the brides-to-be being shell-shocked as he prepares to see his two daughters married within seconds of each other but nothing could be further from the truth.
Dave Morrison (57) admits he is just as excited as Dawn and Kim about their upcoming nuptials, admitting that there is even a benefit to the unusual situation.
He said: ”I’m really looking forward to it I’m really proud of my girls and it will be a great occasion for everyone. It’s been hectic but I suppose it means that I only have to get nervous once.”
