Around 450 cyclists used pedal power to raise over £30,000 for charity at the Dundee Cyclathon.
The cyclists set off from Camperdown Park before travelling the city’s Green Circular cycle route.
Many were clad in bright clothing as they made their way round the 26-mile course, which was bathed in sunshine for most of the event.
There had been fears of a low turnout with the much larger Pedal for Scotland event held on the same day, but a late surge in entrants helped ensure a strong number of cyclists of all ages lined up at Camperdown.
The event was organised by Claverhouse Rotary Club, whose Cyclathon convenor Harrison Watson expressed his delight with how the day went.
”What has been really pleasing is the amount of people who have come up to me and said they really enjoyed it,” he said. ”There were a lot more families this year, which was great to see.”
Harrison continued: ”I have had an amazing amount of phone calls in the last week from people wanting to take part and come along on the day.
”We had around 450 here which is about the optimum and we are delighted with that turnout.”
Mr Watson added that there are no plans to move the event to a different weekend next year to avoid a clash with Pedal for Scotland.
He said: ”There always seems to be something on. Some of the other events attract serious cyclists but we are not really like that. We are quite happy with what we are doing and very happy with the turnout.
”It’s great to let people see Rotary connecting with the area which is what we want to do more and more.”
All money raised will go towards children living in poverty across Dundee as well as individual charities.
