A Dundee dad watched in horror as his two young children were involved in a collision with a car as they walked across a manned school crossing.
Forthill Primary pupils Jodi (8) and sister Charli Ewing (5) were lucky to escape serious injury in the accident with a black Fiat Panda as they walked hand-in-hand across Nursery Road at its junction with Forthill Drive shortly before 9am on Wednesday.
Their father was only metres away and watched helplessly as the accident unfolded.
He told The Courier: ”It was horrifying I just watched as it happened. I feared the worst.”
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene and officers spoke to the driver and passers-by.
Happily, both girls escaped serious harm and did not require hospital treatment.
They were recovering at home in Broughty Ferry and are already looking forward to returning to school.
”The youngest (Charli) seems to have bounced back from this the quickest,” Mr Ewing added.
”Jodi, I think, saw a bit more of the accident and saw the car coming towards them.”
The accident is under police investigation.
