High-profile police patrols have been carried out on the streets of a housing estate after two nights of trouble allegedly involving weapon-wielding gangs.
Police confirmed they are investigating disorder in the Dryburgh area of Dundee which has brought ”fear and alarm” to locals.
Two people, aged 18 and 14, have been charged in connection with the reported disturbances.
Police have also drafted in additional officers while community wardens and the mobile CCTV unit were deployed.
Chief Inspector Sandy Brodie said: ”There have been suggestions that youths have been in possession of weapons sticks, metal bars, that sort of thing.”
Chief Inspector Shaun McKillop said: ”These are not random incidents, but are incidents that have taken place between small identified groups of people.”
Local man Malcolm Fraser claims he was the victim of an attack outside his home. The 36-year-old reported being surrounded by a gang after venturing outside his house when his windows were pelted by youths.
”When I went out to check on my car they came running round from the shops and surrounded me,” he said.
”There were about seven of them. I was whacked on the head and my glasses went flying. I was all over the place.
”The bairns were out of the house shouting and screaming. It was a nightmare.”
