A brazen attempt by a wanted Dundee man to bypass a police cordon saw him taken into custody.
The unidentified man had a warrant out for his arrest but still approached officers who had sealed off a section of Brown Constable Street in Stobswell, asking to be let through.
Officers had secured the street after receiving reports of falling masonry due to the extreme weather.
While most people wanted by the police would prefer to keep a low-profile, the individual approached officers, doing little to hide his identity.
However, PC Dave Gallacher, community officer for Stobswell West, recognised the wanted man and seized the opportunity to take him into custody.
Describing the bizarre situation, PC Gallacher said: ”We were attending reports of falling masonry on Brown Constable Street. The person walked straight up to us and asked to get through.
”Any officer in Dundee knows the faces going about and it’s not the biggest place, so you see a lot of them time and time again.”
After engaging the man, PC Gallacher placed him under arrest and took him into custody.
”There wasn’t a lot of reaction, ”added PC Gallacher.
