Extension of West Ferry conservation area could be on the cards

The West Ferry conservation area could be extended following a well-received review.
Councillors will be asked to incorporate a small area of land along Grove Road into the conservation area when they meet on Monday.
Convener of the city development committee Will Dawson said, “The review was done to manage and evaluate the character and appearance of the area and it included a 10-week public consultation.
“It is always good to see that the community who enjoy living in a conservation area appreciate our efforts to maintain the character of their local environment.”
Broughty Ferry Community Council and Historic Scotland submitted written comments, which described the appraisal as a “thoroughly helpful document” and an “attractively presented” conservation area appraisal that makes good use of historic maps.
Among the other comments received was an email of support for the extension plan by the owner of two properties which would be incorporated.
The West Ferry conservation area was created in its current form in August 1997 to ensure that any development there preserves or enhances the existing character.
